Bongkrekic acid

Mitochondrial Toxin

Bongkrekic acid is a potent mitochondrial toxin that acts specifically on the mitochondrial adenine nucleotide translocase (ANT). It inhibits ADP/ATP transport by crossing the mitochondrial inner membrane, leading to disruptions in energy metabolism. This compound is useful for research into mitochondrial function and related diseases, as well as for studying the mechanisms of bacterial toxins and their effects on cellular respiration.
