C6 Urea Ceramide
Ceramidase Inhibitor
C6 Urea Ceramide is a potent inhibitor of neutral ceramidase, a target relevant for modulating ceramide metabolism. It effectively increases total ceramide levels in wild-type mouse embryonic fibroblasts and HT-29 colon cancer cells. At concentrations of 5-10 μM, C6 Urea Ceramide inhibits the proliferation of HT-29 cells while inducing apoptosis and autophagy without adversely affecting non-cancerous cells. Furthermore, it reduces both total and phosphorylated β-catenin levels and promotes the colocalization of β-catenin with the 20S proteasome. In vivo studies demonstrate that C6 Urea Ceramide decreases tumor growth and elevates ceramide levels in tumor tissues in the HT-29 mouse xenograft model.
