C8 Ceramine, D-erythro

Drug Derivative

C8 Ceramine, D-erythro, is a ceramide analog characterized by the replacement of the carbonyl group with a methylene group. This compound demonstrates significant pro-apoptotic activity, inducing maximal DNA fragmentation in U937 cells at a concentration of 10 μM within 6 hours of incubation, which is notably more rapid than that of C8 ceramide. C8 Ceramine is utilized in research investigating apoptosis mechanisms and cellular responses to ceramide derivatives.
