Langerin Allosteric Inhibitor

Ca2+-Langerin-IN-1 is an allosteric inhibitor of Langerin, a C-type lectin found on Langerhans cells, essential for pathogen recognition and the activation of innate immunity. It exhibits a KD value of 17 μM in the presence of Ca²⁺ and 53 μM in its absence, indicating its competitive inhibition mechanism. By inducing conformational changes and displacing Ca²⁺, Ca2+-Langerin-IN-1 effectively hampers the carbohydrate recognition function of Langerin. This compound is valuable for research in immunomodulatory therapies.
