Carboxyatractyloside tripotassium

ADP/ATP Carrier Inhibitor

Carboxyatractyloside tripotassium is a diterpenoid that functions as an inhibitor of the ADP/ATP carrier in mitochondria. By inhibiting mitochondrial ADP/ATP transport, it promotes reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and induces calcium release, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction. This compound has been shown to induce symptoms such as lethargy, weakness, and epileptic seizures in animal models, making it a valuable tool for studying mitochondrial biology and related disorders.
