Casein

Phosphoprotein

Casein is a phosphoprotein primarily known for its role in calcium absorption and its impact on oral health by reducing caries formation. It comprises various electrophoretic components, including α2-Casein, κ-Casein, β-Casein, and γ-Casein, which can be modified through blending and grafting with other polymers to enhance functionality. In addition to its nutritional benefits, casein has been associated with the proliferation of prostate cancer cells. Its versatile properties make it valuable in multiple industries, including food, paper, leather, and textiles, where it is used in coatings, adhesives, and packaging materials.
