Cerebrocrast

Anion Channel Inhibitor

Cerebrocrast is a potent anion channel inhibitor derived from the 1,4-dihydropyridine (DHP) class. It exhibits a high affinity for membrane lipid bilayers, allowing effective penetration of the blood-brain barrier and incorporation into various cellular membranes, including those of mitochondria. This compound promotes the cotransport of H+ and Cl- ions in rat liver mitochondria, demonstrating significant neuroprotective effects and enhancing cognitive functions. Cerebrocrast is a valuable tool for research in neurobiology and mitochondrial physiology.
