Chlorothymol

LGC-37 Positive Modulator

Chlorothymol is a potent positive modulator of the GABAA receptor subunit LGC-37, exhibiting anticonvulsant and antibacterial activities. It effectively inhibits Pentylenetetrazol-induced c-fos expression and demonstrates growth-inhibitory effects on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 32 μg/mL. Additionally, Chlorothymol provides protective effects against epileptic seizures in various mouse models, making it a valuable compound for researching neurological and infectious diseases.
