Cisd2 Agonist 2 is a potent activator of Cisd2, demonstrating an EC50 value of 191 nM. This compound is relevant in the study of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), as Cisd2 levels have been shown to correlate with the condition. Cisd2, a zinc finger protein localized primarily in the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondrial membrane, plays a crucial role in mitochondrial function by forming homodimers with redox-active 2Fe-2S clusters. Cisd2 Agonist 2 exhibits minimal in vivo toxicity in Cisd2hKO-het mice, supporting its potential utility in research applications targeting mitochondrial dynamics and metabolic disorders.
