Citraconic anhydride

Antigen Retrieval Solution

Citraconic anhydride is an innovative antigen retrieval solution that primarily targets protein amino groups. By reversibly modifying these groups, it stabilizes specific enzymes and enhances their catalytic activities. Citraconic anhydride reacts with free amino groups on proteins, particularly lysine residues, converting positively charged NH3+ to carboxyl groups, effectively disrupting methylene bridge crosslinks formed by formaldehyde during antigen retrieval. It also functionalizes isostatic polypropylene and demonstrates a precise response to pH changes for reversible modification. Caution is advised as Citraconic anhydride may irritate skin and eyes.
