Clorsulon

Flukicidal Agent

Clorsulon is an orally active flukicidal agent that primarily targets glycolysis, the main energy production pathway in flukes. By inhibiting glucose utilization and affecting acetate and propionate formation, particularly in mature Fasciola hepatica, Clorsulon serves as a competitive inhibitor of 3-phosphoglycolate and ATP. This compound is utilized in research focused on liver fluke infections, specifically in calves and sheep, enabling studies of its efficacy against Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica.
