CMIT/MIT (14.5% in water)

Biocide

CMIT/MIT (14.5% in water) acts as a biocide through a mixture of chloromethylisothiazolinone (CMIT) and methylisothiazolinone (MIT). This combination is known for its potent antimicrobial properties, making it suitable as a preservative in cosmetics and various industrial formulations. Additionally, CMIT/MIT generates mitochondrial reactive oxygen species by inhibiting mitochondrial complexes I and II, and it induces neurotoxicity by activating MAPK signaling pathways. This reagent is valuable for research into respiratory diseases and neuroblastoma, contributing to the understanding of their underlying mechanisms.
