CPT2

CRC Prognostic Biomarker

CPT2 (Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 2) is an enzyme involved in fatty acid oxidation and serves as a prognostic biomarker for colorectal cancer (CRC). Overexpression of CPT2 activates phosphorylated p53, leading to increased p53 levels, which inhibits tumor proliferation and promotes apoptosis. Its deficiency is associated with inherited disorders affecting long-chain fatty acid oxidation in skeletal muscle. Additionally, decreased levels of CPT2 correlate with the progression of various cancers, highlighting its potential significance in cancer research.
