Cu(II)-Elesclomol

Anticancer Agent

Cu(II)-Elesclomol is an anticancer agent formed by the complexation of Elesclomol with Cu2+ ions. It acts primarily as a weak inhibitor of DNA topoisomerase I, exerting its anticancer effects through the induction of oxidative stress and DNA damage via copper chelation. Cu(II)-Elesclomol effectively inhibits tumor cell proliferation, promotes cell cycle arrest, and triggers apoptosis, making it a valuable tool for cancer research and therapeutic investigations.
