Cucumarioside H

Mitochondrial Metabolism

Cucumarioside H is a triterpene glycoside derived from the Far Eastern sea cucumber Eupentacta fraudatrix, targeting mitochondrial metabolism. This compound features a branched pentasyl structure with unique characteristics, including a rare 3-O-methyl-D-xylose terminal monosaccharide and an 18(16)-lactone moiety. Research indicates that Cucumarioside H exhibits cytotoxic effects on mouse spleen lymphocytes and Ehrlich carcinoma cells, along with hemolytic activity against mouse erythrocytes. These properties make it a valuable reagent for studies involving cellular metabolism and cytotoxicity.
