Cyclochlorotine

Mycotoxin

Cyclochlorotine is a mycotoxin derived from the fungus Penicillium islandicum Sopp. It primarily promotes glycogenolysis while inhibiting glycogen synthesis, significantly impacting lipid and protein metabolism in liver cells. Due to its chronic toxicity, cyclochlorotine has been shown to induce liver fibrosis and cirrhosis in murine models, demonstrating potential carcinogenic effects. This compound is useful for studies investigating mycotoxin-related liver pathologies and metabolic disruptions.
