D-Asparagine

Asparagine

D-Asparagine is an amino acid that functions as a competitive inhibitor of L-asparagine hydrolysis, exhibiting a Ki value of 0.24 mM. It serves as an important nitrogen source for yeast strains and is effectively utilized by external yeast asparaginase, although it is not an efficient substrate for internal yeast asparaginase. This compound is valuable for studies involving amino acid metabolism and yeast physiology.
