D-Histidine hydrochloride hydrate

Anti-biofilm Agent

D-Histidine hydrochloride hydrate is an anti-biofilm agent that targets bacterial quorum sensing systems, specifically the RhlI/RhlR pathway. This compound exhibits antibacterial activity by non-covalently binding to bacterial regulatory factors, thereby selectively inhibiting biofilm formation and bacterial motility. It downregulates the expression of quorum sensing-related genes and reduces the synthesis of virulence factors, which diminishes biofilm stability and enhances antibiotic sensitivity. Additionally, D-Histidine hydrochloride hydrate acts as an effective catalyst in salt-induced peptide formation, facilitating the condensation of amino acids into dipeptides through interaction with copper ions.
