D-Mannoheptulose

Hexokinase Inhibitor

D-Mannoheptulose is a 7-carbon keto sugar that acts as a specific inhibitor of hexokinase isoenzymes, thereby blocking the phosphorylation of D-glucose. This compound has been shown to impair insulin release and carbohydrate utilization in rat models. Additionally, D-Mannoheptulose exhibits potential antioxidant properties, anticancer effects, and serves as an energy source, making it relevant for various research applications in metabolism and cancer biology.
