Defensin HNP-3 human is a cytotoxic antibiotic peptide that targets microbial pathogens through its antimicrobial activity. This defensin exhibits potent inhibitory effects against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli. The peptide is synthesized as a 94 amino acid preproHNP(1-94) and undergoes hydrolysis to produce proHNP(20-94), followed by maturation to HNP(65-94) through the removal of anion precursors, making it a valuable tool for research on innate immunity and antimicrobial mechanisms.
