Dendrogenin A

LXR Ligand

Dendrogenin A (DDA) is a selective ligand for the liver X receptor (LXR) that promotes the expression of the sodium/iodine symporter, leading to enhanced iodine uptake. This compound has been shown to induce cell differentiation in MCF-7 breast cancer cells and reactivate the function of lactating cells. Dendrogenin A also upregulates the expression of the thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor, thyroid peroxidase, and thyroglobulin, influencing the generation of thyroid hormones. Additionally, DDA exhibits cytotoxic effects on cancer cell lines B-CPAP and 8505c, with IC50 values of 4.1 and 6.2 µM, respectively, and it effectively arrests the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase.
