Desciclovir

Antiherpetic Agent

Desciclovir is a potent prodrug of the antiherpetic agent Acyclovir (ACV), primarily targeting herpes simplex virus (HSV) and varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Once administered, Desciclovir is converted to acyclovir in vivo through the action of xanthine oxidase. This compound exhibits significant antiviral activity against herpesviruses and is valuable in research related to antiviral therapies and herpesvirus infections.
