Desloratadine

H1-Receptor Antagonist

Desloratadine is a selective H1 receptor antagonist characterized by its high affinity (Ki = 0.9 nM) for the receptor. It exhibits notable anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties by inhibiting the release of histamine and LTC4 from human basophils and modulating IL-4 and IL-13 production. This compound serves as an effective therapeutic agent for alleviating symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria, especially in patients with concurrent asthma, making it valuable for research in allergy and immunology.
