Dichlormate

Carotenogenesis Inhibitor

Dichlormate is an effective inhibitor of carotenogenesis, specifically targeting the biosynthetic pathways in etiolated wheat. This compound leads to the accumulation of carotenoid precursors, resulting in phytotoxic effects. The inhibition of carotenoid synthesis by dichlormate disrupts chlorophyll production and compromises chloroplast integrity, making it a valuable tool for studying carotenoid metabolism and its implications in plant physiology.
