Dicyclomine

Muscarinic Cholinergic Receptors Antagonist

Dicyclomine is a potent antagonist of muscarinic cholinergic receptors, with a significant affinity for the M1 receptor subtype (Ki=5.1 nM) and the M2 receptor subtype (Ki=54.6 nM) found in brush-border and basal plasma membranes. This compound exhibits antispasmodic properties, effectively alleviating smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract. Dicyclomine is primarily utilized in research applications investigating gastrointestinal motility disorders and cholinergic signaling pathways.
