Diethyl succinate

Inflammation Protectant

Diethyl succinate, a diester of succinic acid, primarily targets inflammation by acting as a protective agent in biological systems. It penetrates cellular membranes effectively, integrating into tissue cultures where it undergoes metabolism through the tricarboxylic acid cycle. Diethyl succinate has been shown to modulate microglial cell polarization and activation by reducing mitochondrial fission and lowering levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), thereby providing an inflammatory protective effect in primary microglial cells. Its non-toxic nature makes it suitable for various research applications, including studies on neuroinflammation and metabolic pathways.
