Diethylcarbamazine

Microfilaricidal Agent

Diethylcarbamazine is an orally active microfilaricidal agent primarily used in the treatment of onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis. It exhibits biological activities by reducing eosinophil trafficking to lung tissue and showing anti-allergic properties. Additionally, diethylcarbamazine lowers serum levels of various inflammatory markers and ameliorates insulin resistance without significant changes in body weight or organ size. This compound can facilitate research on bronchial asthma, insulin resistance, and related infectious diseases.
