Diloxanide

Anti-Protozoal Agent

Diloxanide is an anti-protozoal agent primarily utilized in the study of asymptomatic intestinal amebiasis caused by Entamoeba histolytica, as well as other protozoal infections. As an active luminal amebicide, it is hydrolyzed in the gastrointestinal tract from its prodrug, Diloxanide furoate. This compound is essential for investigating the mechanisms of protozoal pathogenesis and evaluating potential therapeutic strategies.
