Dimethyl succinate

Succinate Analogue

Dimethyl succinate is a cell-permeable analogue of succinate that primarily disrupts the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle by increasing intracellular succinate levels. This compound inhibits protein synthesis and impairs myogenic differentiation while also inducing apoptosis. Additionally, dimethyl succinate decreases maximal cellular respiration and reserve capacity, with potential applications in rescuing synapse loss in Alzheimer's disease. It serves as a valuable reagent for research into metabolic and neurological disorders.
