DNA ligase-IN-2 is a potent inhibitor of the LigA enzyme, specifically blocking its DNA-independent autoadenylation activity, with an IC50 value of 29 nM. This compound demonstrates effective antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus in vitro, exhibiting minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of 1 μg/mL for S. aureus ATCC 29213, 1 μg/mL for S. aureus ATCC 700699, and greater than 64 μg/mL for E. coli ATCC 25922. DNA ligase-IN-2 is valuable for research focused on bacterial DNA repair mechanisms and the development of novel antimicrobial strategies.
