Dornase alfa

rhDNase

Dornase alfa is a recombinant human deoxyribonuclease I (rhDNase) that specifically degrades extracellular DNA. By catalyzing the cleavage of DNA released by neutrophils in respiratory mucus, Dornase alfa reduces sputum viscosity, enhancing mucus clearance and alleviating airway obstruction. This compound is primarily utilized in the treatment of cystic fibrosis, where it improves lung function and decreases the risk of acute pulmonary exacerbations through localized aerosol inhalation. Its efficacy in ameliorating respiratory symptoms associated with DNA accumulation makes it an important reagent for research applications in respiratory health.
