DPPH

Free Radical Scavenger

DPPH (2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) is a stable free radical utilized as a reagent for assessing the free radical scavenging activity of antioxidants. The unique nitrogen atom in DPPH accepts a hydrogen atom from antioxidants, transforming it into a non-radical hydrazine form. This methodology is applicable in both aqueous and nonpolar organic solvents, allowing for the evaluation of both hydrophilic and lipophilic antioxidants in various research contexts.
