DTME

Maleimide Crosslinker

DTME (dithio-bis-maleimidoethane) is a homobifunctional maleimide crosslinker that targets sulfhydryl groups (-SH) for specific conjugation. Its unique molecular structure consists of two maleimide groups linked by an ethylene disulfide bridge, enabling stable covalent bonding with thiol-containing molecules, including cysteine residues. DTME is particularly useful for studying protein structure and dynamics, facilitating investigations into oligomerization and protein-protein interactions. Additionally, the crosslinks formed with DTME can be cleaved using reducing agents such as DTT, providing versatility in experimental applications.
