CpPI(4)K Inhibitor
EDI048 is a selective inhibitor of Cryptosporidium phosphatidylinositol 4-kinase (CpPI(4)K), targeting its ATP-binding site to impair membrane biogenesis in parasites. This gut-restricted agent effectively halts the development of Cryptosporidium at the schizont stage, contributing to the clearance of infections. With a favorable safety profile characterized by minimal systemic exposure and a lack of cardiotoxicity or genotoxicity, EDI048 supports research into intestinal cryptosporidiosis, particularly in pediatric populations.
