EDTA-AM

EDTA Membrane-Permeant Form

EDTA-AM (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, acetoxymethyl ester) serves as a membrane-permeant variant of the chelating agent EDTA. Upon passive uptake by live cells, cytoplasmic esterases hydrolyze the AM esters, resulting in the release of active EDTA that sequesters metal ions intracellularly. EDTA-AM is instrumental in research focusing on cell cycle dynamics, particularly in studying mitotic arrest and chromosome decondensation processes.
