Egalognastat
OGA Inhibitor
Egalognastat is a selective inhibitor of O-GlcNAcase (OGA), demonstrating an IC50 value of 10.2 nM. This orally active compound effectively increases the O-GlcNAcylation of intracellular proteins, including tau and α-synuclein, thereby reducing their aggregation and associated toxicity. Egalognastat is particularly valuable in research focused on neurodegenerative diseases, such as tauopathies and α-synucleinopathies, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
