Erucamide

TMEM19 Ligand, T3SS Inhibitor

Erucamide is a TMEM19 ligand and an effective inhibitor of type III secretion system (T3SS) in Gram-negative bacteria. This compound demonstrates neuroprotective effects in retinal degeneration models and mitigates anxiety- and depression-like behaviors in mice. By binding to the hydrophobic pocket of HrcC, erucamide disrupts outer membrane localization and inhibits effector protein secretion in pathogenic bacteria. Its applications extend to research on retinitis pigmentosa, mood disorders, and plant-pathogen interactions, making it a valuable tool in pharmacological and microbiological studies.
