Exonuclease III

DNA Repair Enzyme

Exonuclease III is a DNA repair enzyme that specifically targets double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) and exhibits both apurinic/apyrimidinic (AP)-endonuclease and 3'→5' exonuclease activities. This enzyme facilitates the cleavage of single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) at the 5'-bond of phosphodiester linkages, progressing from the 3' to the 5' end. Exonuclease III plays a crucial role in DNA repair mechanisms, making it essential for studies in DNA damage response, genetic stability, and molecular biology applications.
