FD44

NCS-1-Ric8a Inhibitor

FD44 is a phenothiazine small molecule that functions as an inhibitor of the interaction between neuronal calcium sensor 1 (NCS-1) and the guanine exchange factor Ric8a. This interaction is crucial for regulating synapse number and neurotransmitter release probability. In studies utilizing a Drosophila model of fragile X syndrome (FXS), FD44 demonstrated the ability to restore normal synapse numbers and improve associative learning, making it a valuable reagent for research into synaptic function and neurodevelopmental disorders.
