Formamide

DNA Denaturant

Formamide is a powerful DNA denaturant that lowers the stability of DNA in buffer solutions, facilitating the unwinding of double-stranded DNA for various experimental applications. It is also employed as a decalcifying agent in the treatment of rat cardiac cells. Furthermore, formamide serves as a versatile solvent and a chemical raw material for the synthesis of ion compounds, resins, and plasticizers, making it an essential tool in chemical research.
