Galactose Oxidase, Dactylium dendroides

Copper Metalloenzyme

Galactose Oxidase from Dactylium dendroides is a type II copper metalloenzyme that catalyzes the two-electron oxidation of primary alcohols to aldehydes while simultaneously reducing dioxygen to hydrogen peroxide. This enzyme is widely utilized in biochemical research for studying oxidation-reduction reactions and enzyme kinetics. Its specific activity toward galactose enables applications in carbohydrate metabolism studies and potential bioconversion processes.
