Ganglioside GM2
Tumor Antigen
Ganglioside GM2 is a sialylated glycosphingolipid that functions as a tumor antigen primarily found in human tumor cells and fetal brain tissue. It plays a critical role in cell signaling, adhesion, and motility. Abnormal expression and accumulation of GM2 are linked to various tumors and neurodegenerative disorders. GM2 enhances tumor cell migration and invasion by binding to the integrin β1 receptor, which activates the FAK/Src/Erk-MAPK signaling pathway, leading to actin cytoskeleton remodeling.
