Gap19
Cx43 Hemichannel Blocker
Gap19 is a selective connexin 43 (Cx43) hemichannel blocker derived from a nine-amino acid sequence in the Cx43 cytoplasmic loop. It functions by inhibiting hemichannel activity through the disruption of intramolecular interactions between the C-terminus and the cytoplasmic loop. Gap19 is not effective against gap junction (GJ) channels or Cx40/pannexin-1 hemichannels, making it a valuable tool for investigating Cx43-specific pathways. Its protective effects against myocardial injury further underscore its potential in cardiovascular research.
