Germicidin C

Microbial Metabolite

Germicidin C is a microbial metabolite derived from the marine sponge-associated fungus Aspergillus niger, exhibiting significant antibacterial activity. This compound effectively inhibits the growth of a range of pathogenic bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Bacillus subtilis, with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values between 32 to 64 µg/mL. Germicidin C is useful in research applications focused on antimicrobial resistance and the development of new antibacterial agents.
