Gigantol

bibenzyl compound

Gigantol is an orally active bibenzyl compound that targets MYC to facilitate its ubiquitin-proteasomal degradation, thereby inhibiting lung cancer cell proliferation. This compound induces ferroptosis through the SLC7A11-GPX4 axis, contributing to its anti-cancer efficacy. Additionally, Gigantol enhances the sensitivity of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria to colistin and mitigates liver injury caused by carbon tetrachloride by suppressing the JNK/cPLA2/12-LOX inflammatory pathway. Furthermore, it plays a role in cholesterol metabolism and progesterone biosynthesis in Leydig cells, making it valuable for research in lung cancer, antibiotic resistance, and liver inflammation.
