GIP (mouse)

Gastrointestinal Hormones

Gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP) from mouse is a gastrointestinal hormone primarily produced by intestinal K cells, with additional expression in pancreatic islets. GIP functions by binding to the G-protein-coupled GIP receptor (GIPR), promoting insulin secretion from pancreatic β cells, enhancing β cell proliferation, and inhibiting apoptosis. Additionally, GIP exerts direct lipogenic effects on adipose tissue, making it a valuable tool for research in metabolic diseases and endocrine function.
