Glaucarubin

Amœbicide

Glaucarubin is a bitter lactone derived from Simaruba glauca, primarily functioning as an amœbicide. It demonstrates significant biological activity in the treatment of amebiasis and is valuable for research applications targeting amoebic infections. With a high level of tolerance, Glaucarubin exhibits LD50 values of 1,600 mg/kg in mice and 6,400 mg/kg in rats, making it a viable candidate for further preclinical studies.
