Glucose oxidase

Oxidoreductase Enzyme

Glucose oxidase is an oxidoreductase enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of glucose to gluconic acid while producing hydrogen peroxide as a byproduct. This enzyme, commonly derived from Aspergillus niger, exhibits promising applications in cancer research by reducing the availability of glucose, thereby inhibiting the proliferation of cancer cells. Additionally, glucose oxidase is widely utilized as a preservative and stabilizer in the food and beverage industry, demonstrating its versatility in both research and commercial settings.
