Glycerol dioleate

Sustained-release Component

Glycerol dioleate is a lipid that serves as a sustained-release component through the formation of Lyotropic Liquid Crystals (LLC). When combined with phosphatidylcholine in aqueous media, it generates an inverted hexagonal (HII) phase structure conducive to prolonged release. This gel system, optimized with N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, allows for stable release of Risperidone for up to 60 days in both in vitro and in vivo settings. Glycerol dioleate is associated with minimal side effects in animal models, positioning it as an effective carrier for the delivery of antipsychotic agents.
