Gymnestrogenin

LXR Antagonist

Gymnestrogenin is a pentahydroxytriterpene derived from the leaves of Gymnema sylvestre R.Br., functioning as a liver X receptor (LXR) antagonist. It exhibits IC50 values of 2.5 μM and 1.4 μM for LXRα and LXRβ transactivation, respectively. By inhibiting LXR activity, Gymnestrogenin diminishes transcriptional activity, leading to reduced expression of mRNA. This compound is valuable for research related to metabolic regulation and the study of cholesterol homeostasis.
